World Generation in the Style of the Backrooms

Immerse yourself in a mysterious labyrinth inspired by the enigmatic Backrooms. Customize your experience with interactive sliders, controlling the amount of empty spaces, the maze size, and the number of lights scattered throughout the corridors.

This is a simple prototype of a concept that I made while exploring different algorithms and ways of generating terrain. The sliders work as following:

  • Map Size: How big will the generation of the maze be. BE CAREFUL WITH THIS ONE higher value means higher generation and hence bigger load times.
  • Map Emptiness: Dictates how probable "empty rooms" (IE Rooms that have no walls) are to spawn between rooms. (Lower value means less probable)
  • Map Brightness: This sliders manages the amount of lights the map will have. This can cause long load times with a really big size. The higher the slider the less light there'll be.

Controls are classic Mouse&Keyboard, W/A/S/D to move, Shift to Run, Space To Jump.

There's a goal, a door to exit, signaled by a green light.
